Chronic Illness Tag

Hey guys, again I am sorry for the lack of posts, everything has still been a bit of a rollercoaster since my diagnosis. So I thought I would do a tag about chronic illness, to raise some awarness for chronic illness. Chronic illnesses are hard for the public to see as it's invisible. So I thought this tag would be great at the moment. If you think that you have an invisible chronic illness, please visit your GP for help, please don't feel that you have to suffer in silence.

1. What illness(es) do you have?
I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I also have depression and anxiety

2. When were you diagnosed?
I was diagnosed with this in May 2015, but I have been suffering with this illness for over 2 years

3. Have you ever been hospatilised?

Yes, I was in hospital for a week back in June 2014

4. Have you ever had surgery?
I have had 3 surgical injections, when they thought that it was a herniated disc that was causing my symptoms.

5. Do you take any prescription medication? If so what for?
Yes, I take quite a lot. Im basically a walking pill bottle. I take meds for the pain, for my nerves and some for my muscles and I also take meds for depression

6. What do you wish people know about living with a chronic illness?
That just because you cannot see the illnesses, don't think that we are just making it up. We have to suffer with our symptoms on a day to day basis with no relief.

7. What can we do to raise awareness?
I would love more people in the medical community to know more about Fibro, and other chronic illness. As this took me 2 years of agony to get a diganosis and begin to plan my treatment. I would also like to do things for chronic illness charities.

8. Who knows about your illness(es)?
My family, close friends, and I guess the whole world if they are reading my blog. I want as many people to understand this illness as possible.

9. How does your illness(es) most significantly affect your life?
This illness has basically stopped my life as I know it. I can't do anything basically. Some days I cannot even get out of bed. I can only do about 20 minutes of housework without needing a break, and I find I cannot even go out on my own as I am afraid that I will collapse or be in so much pain I cannot even walk any more. It's horrible. I wish I could be a normal 21 year old.

10. If you could tell the medical community one thing about treating your particular illness(es) what would it be?

Please understand that people with chronic illnesses have feelings. In my experiances I have found that some doctors don't even think that you are a human and you are dealing with these symptoms every day. The doctors would just give me meds and send me on my way. It took me 2 years of seeing countless doctors and lots of research, to find a doctor that understood my illness and helped me to try and sort my life out.

I hope you understand more about my illness and if you would like to learn more about chronic illnesses, then please do. I would like as many people to understand chronic illness as possible.
Thank-you so much for reading and I will be posting soon.
