Highlighting My Hair

So I fancied a change and so I went to Tesco and I brought myself a highlighting kit. This morning my mother and I began to lighten my hair. I decided to buy a kit called B Blonde by Jerome Russell. It seemed like the most professional highlighting kit in all the places I have looked, also it came with a cap that you use to create even highlights, and that's what I wanted. Highlighting takes some time, but when it's all done it's worth it.
So we started off by putting on the cap (which makes you look like a old woman but it's okay) and then using the metal hook to pull the strands of hair you want to highlight out. If you pull out hair from every other hole then you will create a subtle look and you can add more to get it to the intensity you wish. In the end I went for about three quarters of the holes and I found that was enough for my long and thick hair.
This is what my hair looked like after we pulled the hair through the holes. After that we started to mix the bleach. You start with the bleach powder, and then you add the bottle of developer. Then using a plastic spoon you have to mix the powder and the developer together until you make a paste. Then you go ahead and apply it, starting around the edges and then you apply the bleach to the lengths. Once you have covered the hair then you cover your head with their 'development cap' which is basically just a cap made out of cling film.
This is what it looks like once the development cap is on. Then it's just a waiting game. It takes between 15-90 minutes, you have to keep check on your hair to get it to your desired lightness. It took me 35 minutes to get it to the colour I wanted. So after that I got into the shower and removed the development cap, but kept the highlighting cap on. I rinsed my hair out and then used the shampoo they provided and made sure I got all of the bleach off then I rinsed it again and then removed the highlighting cap, which is difficult but highly satisfying. Then I shampooed and conditioned my hair as normal. Once I got out of the shower I towel dried my hair and added some serum to the ends. I left it to air dry and then straightened it. And this is the end result
I think this product was really good. The only con I could think of was the smell of the ammonia, but that can be easily looked over. I thought it was pretty easy to achieve. The hardest thing was pulling the hair through the cap and it takes a while too. Everything else was easy and straightforward. Also it was only £6.99 so it's easily affordable. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about highlighting their hair, but I would suggest getting some help when pulling the hair through the cap.

I will write some more reviews when I find some amazing products to share with you. Thank You for reading.
