A Sunday Full Of Baking

So recently mum and I have been obsessed with The Great British Bake Off, and it has made us really want to try some baking. So this morning we decided to make a cake and some shortbread.
We didn't have a recipie that we wanted to make, so we decided to get a box recipie, and we decided on Betty Crocker's Devils Food Cake.
We both decided we would rather have buttercream than frosting, so we made our own buttercream infused with vanilla. Which I have to say tasted AMAZING!
I was so impressed when I took the cakes out of the oven! They were perfectly cooked and very sleek on the top! So we let them cool and then we added the buttercream and also put strawberries inside the layers! I must say it looks so beautiful! And tastes just as good as it looks!
Then on to he shortbread. We have made shortbread before and I love it, it's one of my favourite sweet things to eat. We decided to add a little vanilla extract, and also some white and milk chocolate chips. We mixed all the ingredients and then rolled it into a little sausage shape and put it in the fridge to set a little so it's easier to cut.
We then put them in the oven and when it was a little golden on the top we took it out and added some caster sugar for a little bit of crunch and left them to cool! Which I must say was very hard to do!
So I've had a great and productive morning and looking forward to eating more of these gorgeous bakes! We are hoping to make some more this week! So I will show you our next creations! Let me know in the comments what cakes we should try!
Thanks guys and talk to you soon!
