So I thought I would talk through my evening routine. I try and stick to the same routine every night, because I find that it makes me relax and ready for bed. I find that i really need to relax before bed, otherwise it will take me over an hour and a half to finally get to sleep.
So around 6pm I will make dinner or we will order take out, I try and make healthy and filling meals, but every once in a while Shane and I will just want a pizza or a chinese, so we will eat and then just chill out for a little while, maybe watch an episode or two of any programme we are watching at that point, and snuggle up on the sofa with Leia. We will talk about how our days have gone and how we are feeling. I try and make sure to talk to Shane about things that are worrying or bothering me. With my illness, I have a lot of worries, so I like to talk to Shane about anything that is on my mind. So around about 9pm I will go upstairs and I will run myself a bath. Depending on my mood and how I am feeling, I will either add a bath bomb or bubble bath. I will usually use something that is meant to relax or help promote sleep. So I would spend a good 30 minutes in the bath, and I will focus on some heavy breathing and I will also make sure I shave and make sure I am nice and clean and smooth.
Then I will get out (with or without help from my husband) and I will dry myself off and I will moisturise my body and make sure I am smelling lovely. At the moment I am using Marks & Spencers Strawberry mouisteriser, I love it, I think it smells like Calpol and its so sweet and fruity. Then I will get in my pyjamas and get comfortable, then I will do my skin care routine. I will start by cleansing my face with the Simple facial cleanser and then follow it up with the Simple toner. Finally i will use Simple's night cream. Then I will put some lip balm on. Then I will go downstairs and I will make Shane and I some tea, I may have some fruit or a few biscuits. Then I will give my husband a kiss and say goodnight, then I will go upstairs, and usually Leia will follow me and then I will quickly check my phone to make sure there is nothing I have missed and then I will put an audiobook on, At the moment I am listening to Steven Fry read Harry Potter. While the auidobook is on I will focus on my breathing and try as hard as I can to relax and clam down, and finally after a while I will fall asleep.
