So I thought I would start a series of reviewing TV Series' and Books that I have been enjoying recently.
So I thought I would start with one of my favourite TV programmes. American Horror Story. I began to watch this when it came on to Netflix and I was instantly hooked. I am a horror junkie, and the ambiance of the whole programme just sucked me in from the first episode. I think the context of having a completely different story line and time line in every season. I don't think I have experienced that in any other TV programme. I love horror mysteries, which is what I would class this series, especially the first season 'Murder House' because you are always thinking about what will happen next or trying to figure out the little twists and turns in the series.
The thing that drew me in to this amazing programme was the cast. Jessica Lange in particular. I think she is an amazing actress, and after watching all 4 seasons, you realise how versatile of an actress she is, from playing a nun, to a ring master to a witch, and she does it all so effortlessly. In Murder House, I fell in love with Tate Langdon, Or Evan Peters. I had never heard of him before, but I thought he had such a haunted persona about him, and I found that what ever he did during the series, good or bad, I would always find myself liking him more and more. I think he is a brilliant actor and I really hope he goes far in his career. I have to tip my imaginary hat to Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts and the rest of this amazing cast for their captivating and haunting acting.
The synopsis for this series is 'Both physical and psychological horrors affect a decomposing family, workers and residents of an insane asylum, a coven of witches, and a cast of circus freaks in this anthology series, focusing on the themes of infidelity, sanity, oppression, and discrimination.' I think this sums up the programme perfectly, There is something for every horror loving person, from witches to freakshows. I love the diversity in the seasons. I wouldn't say that it is very scary, there isn't a immense amount of jump scares. I think the most of it is psychological. So if you like programmes that make you think, then this is perfect!
In my personal opinion, My favourite seasons are Murder House (the first season) and Freakshow (the fourth season) Circus freaks and how they were treated in the 1950's, really interests me, and I think I will always have a love for the first season because it was the first season I watched (obviously)
I really love this programme and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to be spooked and likes to watch programmes with deep meanings and amazing actors.
