Holiday Essentials- Skin Care

I am going on holiday in 3 weeks to Tenerife and I thought that I would do a series of posts about all things summer. I thought the first post I would do is my summer essentials. These are just things that I need to take away with me on holiday.

The first thing I want to talk about is your skin care essentials. If you are going to a hot country like me, you need to make sure you skin is taken care of. The first thing you need to put in your suitcase is suncream. If you are pale like me, factor 30 is perfect, but if you tan easily, a low factor sun cream or tanning oil is great for you. This Soliat SPF 30 sun cream is £5.99 at Superdrug, and it will last you the whole holiday. Make sure that you put this on every hour or so, this will protect your skin fron the harmful UV rays from the sun. If you are going on holiday with someone else, make sure you get them to put the sun cream on the places that you cant reach. You don't want to burn because you couldn't reach your back.

The next thing you need to get when you are on holiday is After Sun, even if you don't think you have burnt, I try and make sure to put this on every day after I have been out. This Solait 400ml Aftersun is £3.99 at Superdrug. Once you have bought it I would suggest filling up some ice cube trays with the aftersun gel, and then putting it into the freezer. Once it is completly frozen, pop out a cube and rub it on your sun burn and it will instantly make your skin feel better and it will also help aid your skins healing process. I would also put  the rest of the container in the fridge to make sure its cool when you put it on your skin. Try and find a product will Aloe Vera in, I find these works best for my pale skin which is seceptible to burning.

After you have been in the sun all day, you need to make sure to moisturise your face and body. You need to find a product which will really penertrate deep into the skin, as your skin gets really dehydrated when you are out in the sun or in the water all day. I like to use the Olay Beauty Fluid, which retails for about £4.99 at Superdrug, remember you might have to decant some of these products into travel sized containers to make sure it will be allowed on the areoplane, or buy these products as soon as you get to your destination.

Next you need to make sure that you moisterize your whole body, this will stop your skin from peeling and also it will make your tan (if you get one) last longer. I love Dove products, I think they smell amazing and work great as well. If you don't get tanned on your holiday, maybe think about getting a moisturiser with a gradual tanner in it. I think this is what I will be doing when I go away in August. These moisterizers retail for about £4.99 at Superdrug.

You need to take care of the delicate skin under your eyes. being in the sun all day can make your under eye skin very dry and sore. So I think you need to make sure you have a good under eye cream for your holiday. I would suggest getting two different types of eye creams. I would suggest getting a gel for the evening, so it will work deep into the skin. This Olay eye gel retails for £4.99 at Superdrug. I would want to put this into the fridge so it is lovely and cool on your skin. The other type I would suggest is a rollerball eye cream for during the day. I like this Simple rollerball eye cream, and i think that it works well at soothing the skin and reducing puffiness and dark circles. This retails for £4.99 also at Superdrug.

The last piece of skin care that I would like to talk about is lip care. Not every one knows this, but the skin on your lips burn too, so I would suggest getting a lip balm with SPF. During the day I don't wear any makeup, so i will be using a clear lip balm like this Solait SPF 30 one, which retails for  £2.99. I would suggest putting this on every time you re apply your sun cream, because when you are eating and drinking during the day, a lip balm would rub off, just make sure your whole body is protected all the time.
