Headaches

Hello, Sorry for the post at 4am. I couldn't sleep and I just wanted to make a post. I have been getting horrible, debilitating headaches for around two weeks. I usually get headaches as a symptom of Fibromyalgia, but it has never been that bad. So I went to the doctors, and they told me it was all to do with tension in my neck, they gave me Ibuprofen and told me to try massage and hot compress. So yesterday I made an appointment with an acupuncturist to see if they could do anything to help my headaches.
So when I got to my appointment I had a chat with the guy that was doing my acupuncture/acupressure appointment. I needed to tell him where the pain was and he checked my muscles to see where he needed to insert the needles. He told me that my headaches seemed to be caused by emotional stress and worry, not from my muscles. So he told me he would try and get rid of my headaches, and to be honest that was all I wanted, just a little relief.
So he made me lay on my back on the massage table and he started his work. First he sanitised the area he was going to be inserting the needles. which was around my forehead, my temples, actually on the top of my head and on my shins ( I didn't realise I had trigger points there) and then he inserted the needles. They are really fine, and so they aren't painful, and I usually hate needles, but I could handle this, it's a little scratch and then its fine. He left the needles in and then told me to relax and lay still. You have to wait around 30 minutes for the needles to do their job. I almost fell asleep, but I tried to relax and focus on my breathing.
After 30 minutes, the man came in and took out the needles, again that didn't hurt, and then he started on the acupressure, which is the bit I was looking forward to. Its almost like a sports massage, it can be pretty rough on your skin, but it really helps to relax the muscles and stimulate the points of acupuncture. It lasted around 20 minutes and it felt really nice, there was points that it did hurt. but after a few seconds the pain went away.
Afterwards I felt very relaxed and drowsy. There was no pain in my head (thank god) and the guy said that I need to come back for weekly sessions until my headaches start getting better. Its been less than a day, I still feel good, but the points the needles were inserted into my temples have really started to swell and bruise. I have checked, and that is a normal thing. I did enjoy it, and I will update you after I have had a few more sessions.
I apologise for this long rambling post, but that's because I'm over tired.
Thanks for reading and I will post soon!
